Can an Opel control unit simply be swapped?

Not always. Opel engine ECUs from approx. the year 2000 onwards are coupled to the keys via an IMMO-4/IMMO-3 immobiliser system. A control unit from another vehicle will not work directly. Cloning transfers the immobiliser coupling and makes the unit functional in the target vehicle.

What is the difference between Opel Tech2 and TIS2000?

Tech2 is the diagnostic device (hardware). TIS2000 is the software for programming and calibration on the PC. For Opel ECU cloning both systems are combined: Tech2 for diagnosis and immobiliser operations, TIS2000 for software programming. Without both systems, professional cloning on Opel is not possible.

Is cloning also possible when all keys are lost?

That depends on the model and the immobiliser generation. With IMMO-3 and IMMO-4: key data are stored in the control unit. If the control unit is readable, immobiliser data can be cloned. With IMMO-4 and total key loss: Tech2 + Opel security code required — we clarify what is possible in advance.

Send us the vehicle model, year of manufacture, control unit type and the fault pattern. We assess whether the control unit can be cloned for this model and which software version is fitted.
Tech2 / VIDA diagnosis (if the vehicle runs)

Opel Tech2: full diagnosis, read fault memory, secure the configuration data set. Shows whether the defect lies in hardware or software — a precondition for clean cloning.
Remove the control unit and ship it

Remove the control unit (removal guide on request), pack it safely in an anti-static bag and ship it. Shipping materials on request.
Cloning and configuration transfer

Full readout of the control unit software: main program, calibration data, immobiliser data, VIN binding. Transfer onto a tested replacement control unit.
Function test and return shipment

Tech2/diagnostic final check: configuration correct, immobiliser data transferred, no communication errors. Return shipment with written report.
