Inquiry & feasibility check
Send us the vehicle (make, model, year), the ECU type and the failure pattern via WhatsApp or our form. We assess feasibility and reply within one working day with a fixed price and shipping instructions.

Remove the ECU
Remove the ECU properly. Disconnect all connectors, never use force. Important: do not open the ECU, do not solder anything beforehand. Document the installed state with photos — this helps the diagnosis. If you are unsure: we will advise you by phone.

Pack it safely
Wrap the ECU in anti-static film or an anti-static bag (essential!). Wrap it in bubble wrap and place it in a sturdy box. No loose metal parts in the parcel. Enclose a cover sheet with the vehicle VIN, fault description and contact details.

Ship it to us
Shipping via DHL, UPS or GLS — insured. Send the tracking number via WhatsApp. Address: KFZ Dietrich, Meckelstrasse 8, 37181 Hardegsen, Germany. Return shipping is included in the price.

Diagnosis & report
Once received, we run a full diagnosis: readability of the original, data integrity, identification of the ECU generation and encryption level. You receive a written report via WhatsApp/email — always before any repair work begins.

Cloning / repair
Backup of the original data. Transfer onto an identical replacement unit. Verification of all data regions: VIN, immobiliser hash, adaptation values, software version. If a defect prevents cloning: repair of the original after consultation.

Quality check
The cloned ECU is verified for complete data transfer. Simulated communication test (as far as possible without the vehicle). Comparison of original vs. clone data — the protocol is included with the report.

Return shipment & warranty
Insured DHL return shipment with tracking number. Diagnostic report, protocol and warranty document are in the parcel. 12-month warranty on the cloning service. Installation notes on request.

Shipping — what we look out for
Shipping label on request
On request we create a DHL shipping label that you print out and stick onto your parcel. This way no shipping costs arise for you — we account for them with the order.
Insurance required
ECUs are high-value components. DHL Standard with 500 € standard insurance is sufficient in most cases; for premium ECUs (Mercedes EZS, BMW CAS) we recommend DHL Premium or UPS Standard with extended insurance.
Share the tracking number
Right after shipping, please send the tracking number via WhatsApp. We track the arrival and notify you immediately once the parcel reaches us.
Cover sheet
Please print out and enclose: vehicle VIN, make/model/year, ECU labelling (copied exactly), failure pattern, contact details + phone number for queries.
Payment & warranty
Advance payment by bank transfer
You pay the fixed price once feasibility has been confirmed — before sending the ECU. This way you do not run the risk of the unit being in transit while the order ultimately does not come through. We send you the shipping instructions immediately.
Card payment / Stripe
On request, card payment via a secure Stripe payment link is also available. Funds move directly between your bank and ours — we never see your card details.
Business invoice
Workshops, dealerships and business customers can receive an invoice with 14-day payment terms on request. For the first order, advance payment applies; from the second order onwards, payment is by invoice.
12-month warranty
Every cloning service comes with a 12-month functional warranty. Should the cloned ECU fail within this period, we will clone the data onto a new donor unit at no charge. Condition: no water ingress or voltage-spike damage caused by a defective alternator.
Common concerns in advance
What if cloning does not work?
Rarely, but it can happen — for example if the memory chips are completely destroyed or if the ECU belongs to a generation with active HSM encryption. In that case we charge only the diagnosis hour (49 €), the ECU is returned to you, and we discuss alternative routes (repair, authorised dealer, used unit).
Will the car really run immediately after installation?
In most cases yes — that is the main advantage of cloning. For some systems (e.g. DSG mechatronics after cloning) we still recommend an adaptation procedure via ODIS/XENTRY to ensure optimal shifting behaviour. The report includes notes on this where applicable.
What if the parcel is lost in transit?
We recommend insured shipping (DHL/UPS). In case of loss, the shipping provider covers up to the insured amount. We help with the damage report. Prevention: use the shipping label provided by us — it includes the correct insurance class by default.
Do you need just the ECU, or the car as well?
Just the ECU is sufficient in most cases. We work on a workbench setup with MagicMotorsport Flex directly on the component. You save the trip and the workshop standstill. In very rare cases (e.g. newer BMW G-series with FEM/BDC binding) we need the vehicle VIN from the ECU on site once — this happens in less than 5 % of orders.
What happens to my personal data?
The ECU contains adaptation values and configuration data — no personal data in the GDPR sense. Even so: after the order has been completed, all read-out data is fully deleted by us after 30 days (except for the report kept for the warranty file). Key codes and VIN remain technically in the cloned unit — this is a prerequisite for it to function.
When exactly will I know whether my ECU is clonable?
Immediately: /klonbar-pruefen/ — enter the ECU labelling and the system checks the official MagicMotorsport list in real time. If the labelling is hard to read, send us a photo via WhatsApp — we will identify the model for you.
