DSG and transmission control units require their own compatibility assessment. Give gearbox and unit identifiers, the original and donor condition and any prior diagnosis. Engine ECU list entries do not establish transmission support.

A clone replaces the electronic data of the mechatronic unit or transmission control unit. It does not repair worn clutches, damaged hydraulics or mechanical gearbox damage. Judder when pulling away, slipping clutches or noises point to mechanical causes. That is why the diagnosis comes before any decision to clone.
The DSG generations at a glance
- DQ200: 7-speed, dry clutches, for lower torque
- DQ250: 6-speed, wet clutches
- DQ381: 7-speed, wet clutches
- DQ500: 7-speed, wet clutches, for high torque – for example in the Transporter/Multivan T5 and T6
The generation determines which data and which replacement unit fit. Support is always checked for the specific unit, not for the gearbox family as a whole.
How to identify your unit
You will find the gearbox code on the vehicle data sticker or the gearbox housing, and the part number on the label of the mechatronic unit or control unit. A clear photo of the label is the most reliable basis for our check.
